I chose Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer for my favourite music video of all time.
Livin' on a Prayer is from the glam metal/ hard rock genre, the video goes with the song because of its fast pace, and direct address to the audience at some points in the song.
The video is of Bon Jovi on tour in the 1980s, one of the reasons why i chose this video to be my favourite is because of how fans are involved in the video, this could have been a way of attracting a wider audience as some people would prefer seeing how the artists interact with the fans rather than seeing a music video that only involved the band.
The narrative is not exactly clear in this video as the song lyrics are different to what is being shown on screen. The lyrics are about a working class couple who are struggling financially, whereas the music video doesn't show a couple who is struggling financially, but instead shows a band that is immensely popular, this is one of the things i like about this video because if they had made a music video showing a couple who are in trouble, i don't think the song would have been as popular with the audience as it was because the music video involved the audience and made them feel like a part of the bands success.
This music video shows many different events and places. Bon Jovi played 206 shows in the 1986-1887 period and this music video contained footage from some of their early shows.
